Our History
2015 - MyFirstSingle
Connecting Artists and Producers
Whilst studying music production at university in Leeds, our founder Joe felt like something was off.
He found talented producers stuck in classrooms without real industry experience, while independent artists flooded Instagram with original songs – but were lacking affordable recording options.
To bridge this gap, Joe started producing music for artists he met online from his dorm room. As demand grew, he recruited classmates, transforming a university building in northern England into a thriving creative hub connecting producers and artists from around the globe.
This was the founding of MyFirstSingle.
2017 – TORS is Born
Expanding the Vision
As demand continued to grow, it became clear that higher-quality services were needed to support even more artists.
And with that, The Online Recording Studio (TORS) was born – bringing in experienced producers and professional studios. TORS expanded its offerings, providing full production, promotion, and release strategies for artists at every level. Joe left university to focus on TORS full time.
2018–2020 – Global Expansion
Building a Worldwide Network
TORS expanded globally, hand-picking talented producers from the USA, Canada, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Additional services such as more comprehensive promotion and audience-building were introduced, helping artists effectively monetize their music. By this point, TORS had produced hundreds of artists across a range of genres.
When COVID-19 hit, TORS was already up and running, ready to help thousands of artists around the world seamlessly continue their musical journeys remotely.
2021–2023 – Recognition & Results
Impact and Visibility
Relocating to West London, TORS continued to grow rapidly, becoming the leading online recording platform for aspiring artists globally. Thousands of tracks were produced, achieving tens of millions of streams, chart successes, and major TV and film placements. Media features included Sky News, Metro, IQ, and LadBible, with sessions in iconic studios such as Abbey Road, and in New York, Paris, and LA.

When Joe started TORS, artists would say they wanted to work with us so that they could get signed to a label. Nowadays, artists say they want to work with us so don’t have to get signed and can remain independent forever.
